Bible in a Year

Today, March 28, 2017, is the first day of the first month of the Biblical calendar, Nisan 1, in the year 5,777.  What better time to make a Biblical New Year’s resolution and read through the Bible in a year!  Reading through the entire Bible can be an undaunting task.  There are 66 books in the Bible, which is about 1200 pages long and includes about 800,000 words!  But, in as little as  20 minutes a day you can read through the Bible in a year.   So, give up a little time on Facebook, watching TV or texting and get into God’s word.  I recommend you read through the Bible by letting someone read it to you.  You can go online to https://www.biblegateway.com/ and choose a version which has audio.  Remember, God says that all His scripture is God breathed and all scripture is profitable.  God speaks to us through his Words. You can do this! Shalom!

Blood Moons – Coincidences or Signs?

Blood Moon April 15 2014 Las Vegas

Did you know there is no Biblical Hebrew concept for the word “coincidence”?  God knows all things – past, present and future.  There was no coincidence when the Magi (wise men) looked up into the sky and followed a star in the East which guided them to Bethlehem where Jesus (Yeshua) was born.  God’s word tells us that He uses the “lights” in the sky as signs…”God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night;  and let them be for signs, seasons, days and years.”  Genesis 1:14

In Acts 2 Peter explains the Holy Spirit’s coming by quoting from the Prophet Joel, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people…I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, …The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood.”  The sun turns dark during a total solar eclipse and the moon turns blood red during a total lunar eclipse – many call this a blood moon.

Right now, we are in the middle of a tetrad, which is 4 total lunar eclipses (blood moons) in a row with no other type of lunar eclipse in the series.   This current tetrad is significant because it is only the 9th time in 2000 years that a tetrad has occurred on the exact dates of God’s calendar for various feasts of the Lord (see Leviticus 23).  This tetrad occurs on Passover and Sukkot (feast of tabernacles) in both 2014 and 2015.  And a total solar eclipse will occur in 2015 in the middle of the tetrad.  (Upcoming dates include March 20, 2015 – Solar Eclipse; April 15, 2015 – Lunar Eclipse on Passover; and September 28, 2015 – Lunar Eclipse on Sukkot.)

The most recent prior tetrad that occurred on Biblical feast days was in 1967/1968.  In 1967, Israel’s Six-Day war resulted in the recapturing of Jerusalem after 2000 years of gentile control.  Previous to 1967/1968 was the tetrad on 1949/1950.  Israel became a nation in 1948 and after warring with neighboring nations, they set up their first government in 1949 and Israel’s “Law of Return” was passed in 1950 which gives any Jew the right to live in Israel and become a citizen.  In AD 32 a total lunar eclipse occurred on Passover.  Possibly the night of the Last Supper?

Are these all coincidences or are they signs?  You decide.  One thing for certain: we need to be humbly seeking the Lord today and let us be like the men of Issachar (1 Chronicles 12:32) who understood the times and knew what to do.

What’s the Bible?

The Bible is God’s revelation to man.   The Bible (Tanakh and the B’rit Chadashah) is unique compared to other religious writings in that it was written by 40 different Jewish men over 1600 years over three continents.  Other religious writings which claim to be divinely inspired are written by one person.  These 40 Jewish men who wrote the Bible came from very different walks of life – herdsmen, princes, tax collector, physician, military general, etc.    Yet, there is a consistent flow throughout all the scriptures, which would support one divine author.  God explains it this way in His Bible…in 2 Peter 1: 20-21, God tells us,  ” Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation.   For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible’s main message is there is one God, the creator of Heavens and Earth and all that are in them – including man.  God desires to have an eternal relationship with his creation – man.  Man by his nature is a sinner – everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God.  No matter how many good deeds we as humans can complete, our good deeds do not remove our sinful deeds of record.    God loves man and wants to be with him forever, yet God as a perfect judge must punish the guilty and He can not let sin into His Heaven.  God solved this problem through the person of Jesus Christ.  His Hebrew name is Yeshua HaMashiach.  Yeshua is fully God and fully man.  Yeshua (Jesus) suffered and died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and purchase a place for us in Heaven which he offers to us as a free gift.  For those who believe and trust in Yeshua alone to get themselves into Heaven, God promises to be with them forever.  Once a person has truly trusted in Yeshua for their eternal life, God seals him with His Holy Spirit (the helper) who will help guide the  believer along with God’s word (the Bible) for all his days here on Earth.   Probably one of the most popular verses of the Bible,  John 3:16,  says it like this, “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
